1. Why You Should Know the Difference Between Magazines & Clips

    Saying Clip Instead of Magazine

magazinesThe confusion between a clip and a magazine is very common, and the terms are mutually exclusive. Most of the time this happens when people use the word clip when referring to a firearm magazine. You have to wonder if this happens because of movies and television shows where they depict firearms, terminology, and how firearms function incorrectly.

If we hear the same phrases over and over again from these forms of media, it starts to become part of our vocabulary and is defined according to the inaccurate information from these sources. For those of us who do know the difference when hearing clip used when someone should have said magazine, it can have an almost "nails on the chalkboard" effect.

  2. How to Prevent Your AR-15 Rifle from Overheating

How to Prevent My AR15 from OverheatingBefore you start getting too worried about your AR-15 rifle overheating, know that AR-15s are expected to heat up through regular use.

As long as the barrel isn't turning red and drooping down like in a cartoon, your rifle is probably fine (as long as the issue is not that you're abusing your rifle). The original M16s were designed as select fire infantry weapons for short full automatic firing and not to replace heavier machine guns.

How Many Shots can the AR-15 Rifle Handle?

It's to be expected that after around thirty rounds, your barrel is going to become quite hot, but as long as you have a quality build, you can safely fire hundreds of rounds in a day without doing any damage to the barrel.

If you started out with bolt-action rifles, what you were probably told is that you want to stop shooting once the barrel becomes too hot, as that's going to lead to some permanent damage. This

  3. Tips, Tricks, & Suggestions for Shooting Tannerite with Your AR-15

The first time your bullet makes contact with a pound of Tannerite, you might say “Holy cow this stuff is awesome?” The two components that make up Tannerite are: aluminum powder and ammonium nitrate. Both components are completely inert by themselves before mixed so it’s 100% safe to handle and legal to possess, as per the ATF. It is also safe to use because only a bullet, traveling at the minimum of 2100 FPS, can set it off.

Recently Tannerite has become more mainstream with the help of online videos depicting people using it. This has made Tannerite more readily available and can be purchased at most local gun shops, big box outdoor stores, or online.

Here are some simple tips, tricks and suggestions for shooting Tannerite with your

I had a really rough start on my first two stages of the match. Both my pistol and my shotgun went down on the first stage and  I had to borrow two of my three guns from a friend to even finish t

  5. Happy Independence Day!

    July 4, 2020

Today, July 4, way back in 1776 something absolutely incredible happened.
The people of the Thirteen American Colonies declared that they were no longer subject to the British empire and were, in fact, free men and women. They declared that the government's power comes from the consent of the governed and that when a government becomes to powerful that it is the "Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute

  6. Stag Arms Appreciates Their Customers

The following is an actual testimonial from a grateful Stag Arms owner.

Tom GreshamOrdered my Stag AR in 2012 and my FFL and I did the paperwork while we watched the Newtown event unfold.

Several months ago, my bolt stopped locking back on the empty mag.  I lived with it.  I figured I had cheap mags.  But not all of them!  And it would lock on the empty mag when I dry fired--just not on live fire. Checked online forums, where too many people who don't sign their real names have too many ideas about what the problem could be.

Finally, Feb of this year, I had some spare time at work and thought about "what would Tom do" and went on the Stag website.  I engaged in an email conversation THAT DAY with a customer service

  7. How Barrel Twist Rate Affects Ammunition Choice

describe the imageAll modern day rifles have “lands,” which are the raised portions, and “grooves,” which are the valleys between the lands inside the barrel. These lands and grooves move down the barrel in a spiral fashion which is known as “rifling.”

The rifling imparts a spin on the bullet as it travels down the barrel causing it to have a straighter trajectory after exiting. It’s the same reason a football quarterback puts a spin on the football when throwing it.

    Rifling Measurement and Notation

Rifling is measured as a twist rate, the distance in inches it takes for the rifling to make one complete 360 degree revolution inside the barrel. When communicating the twist rate, it is denoted slightly differently when spoken versus when written as seen in the chart

  8. Why You Need Hearing Protection With Firearms

Why You Need Firearms Hearing ProtectionHearing protection should always be part of firearm safety. People who regularly use firearms without adequate protection are at risk of experiencing hearing loss, especially high frequency sounds such as "th," "s," or "v."

The following information discusses why hearing protection is important and describes the different types of protection available.

    The Decibel Range of Firearms

A decibel is used to measure the level or intensity of a sound, and for every 3 decibels, the sound is twice as loud. Not all firearms produce the same level of noise. For instance, a .22 caliber rifle will produce a noise level of approximately 145 decibels, while a 44 revolver will raise the level to about 170 decibels. Most other firearms will fall somewhere between

  10. Viruses Riots and Toilet Paper...

    June 15th, 2020

To our friends, family and customers,

Unless you've been under a proverbial rock, you can't help but notice that 2020 has been a wild ride so far. Things are frankly... plain messed up. Every day we're thankful that our new headquarters is in one of the least impacted areas of the country and that things are relatively normal out here in the great expanse that is known as Wyoming.

We do realize that other parts of the country and even the world are not experiencing (air quotes) normalcy. Canada for instance just last month unilaterally banned firearms without including their own people with so much as a vote. The Covid-19 virus has left huge impacts in both business, and society as a whole. And demonstrations have been ignited across the country in both peaceful and extremely dangerous fashions leaving people wondering where the line between protest and riot lies.

Through all of this, one very silent thing has happened within
